i have old codes which have been fixed on chevy but sometimes they still come on how do i clear computer codes whith out going to garageDoes disconnecting the ground cable on the battery clear computer codes?
Go to Auto Zone and have them pull the codes for you. They will do it for free, and ask them to please clear them for you after they have read what they are. Take note of them, as you may need them. You may really have something else wrong. I have seen an O-2 sensor not plugged on very good and it kept setting off the same code, after it had been repaired, but until we fixed the plug on it, it kept setting codes.
Glad I could help you. Good Luck!!!Does disconnecting the ground cable on the battery clear computer codes?
take it to a shop and have them just clear the codes.......depending one your chevys year and model. just disconnecting the wires wont do it. obd I and obd II ecus require that a scan tool be used to clear the codes. u might be able to get the annoying light off by disconnecting the possitive terminal but theres prob a reason WHY it was on in the first place
no the + only the -can still be grounded at a diff place on the car for the ECU
unplug the batt for 15min
Yes but only if your computer is windows 98
i would say yes, i would also disconnect all cables and wait for any electricity inside the system to disappaite. Depending on how old the car and the type of computer technology they used when its built would determine whether it would clear. MY old 86 mustang gt codes would clear when i d/c the batt. but i also had one of those reader tools that would clear them . i also think there was a way to use a jumper wire(or connector) to clear them.
