i had the same problem with my windows xp machiene. I googled and found a program called tweak xp. its free and it kinda helps by disabling system services that are not needed and cause your system to run slowly. I decided that the better choice would be to just do a fresh install of the operating system, but most likely that can be worse (because you might loose a files that you wanted to keep). sorry im not much of a help

install that and run it once a week. it deletes all the stupid stuff on your computer








on ccleaner, click on tools from the left side, and click on startup. and disable anything you dont need.
Remove unused registry items, permanently close off unused processes, uninstall unneeded/unused programs.
