How do I clear fraps from my computer registry?

how do i clear fraps from my registry?How do I clear fraps from my computer registry?
You don't have to remove it. The registry holds a lot of old program info, but this really won't impact your PC's performance.

You shouldn't mess with the registry unless you really know what you're doing. Better to be safe than sorry, my mom used to always say. ;)

BUT... If you just can't stand the thought of remnants of the FRAPS program lingering in your registry then just run regedit and hit Ctrl + F to bring up the search window. Type in ';fraps'; (no quotes) and search the entire registry.

Remember to make a backup or system restore point BEFORE messing around in there.

Good luck,

PS,

The following is an except from http://mywebpages.comcast.net/SupportCD/鈥?/a> - listed under Optimization Myths.

Myth - ';Registry Cleaners improve performance.';

Reality - ';A few hundred kilobytes of unused keys and values causes no noticeable performance impact on system operation. Even if the registry was massively bloated there would be little impact on the performance of anything other than exhaustive searches.';

Notes - ';Registry Cleaners can fix problems associated with traces of applications left behind due to incomplete uninstalls. So it seems that Registry junk is a Windows fact of life and that Registry cleaners will continue to have a place in the anal-sysadmin's tool chest, at least until we're all running .NET applications that store their per-user settings in XML files - and then of course we'll need XML cleaners.';
