You probably have Internet Explorer. Look at the top of the browser window for Tools, then click Delete Browsing History. On the bottom of this new window, click Delete all... and then click Yes.

Matt, it depends on which historical data you are trying to delete and the degree of cleaning you want to execute. But for anything I would recommend running all activities on sand box. Try Sandboxie (google it). The idea is to run your activities virtually. There's nothing to purge because there was nothing stored permanently to begin with- everything was run using the memory.
Or tools internet options and delete.
I recommend CCleaner. It's awesome at cleaning out all sorts of crap.
