I have defragmented and uninstalled all unneeded programes and deleted all files i don't need.
In the start up menu there are loads of programmes running which i have no idea what they are. My computer feels like it needs a good clean! How can i clear my computer of junk?
i recommend tune up utilities 2007. it is an award winning and very effective in optimizing your system. if you can afford it run the 30 day free trail with full options.
here is a few other steps.
1: delete all temp files, cookies, history files.
2: run disc defrag and also delete invalid unneeded registry files.
3: defrag the registry
4: go to start%26gt;run and type msconfig
5: when the pop up window appears select the start up tab. you can then uncheck programs you do not want running at start up.
6: BUY MORE RAM, I recommend at least one gig of ram.
7: consider upgrading your internet speed a bit :)
don't forget to download the free trail of tune up utilities 2007 as it will do all this work and more.
good luck.p.s some programs are mandatory in running your pc. so google all the processes you are unsure about, get info on the importance of them and un check them as needed using msconfig.
EDIT: once your done downloading all that un nessary crap RAY suggests you wont have any ram (memory) left. How can i clear my computer of junk?
http://www.ccleaner.com/
Try this program. It removes and clean computer with click of button. Especially good program when you have uninstall lot of files and some junk files of those programs are still in your computer.
PS:- When using this program, use the defaulted option already selected, analyse and fix. The other options (which are not tick) are for advance user and so don't tick those options until you know what those option means.
i.e. safely use ';default'; option which have been selected , analyse and fix/clean
Click on control panel, click on add or remove,Go through all programmes and delete all those you don't want
Do a Google search for ';System Mechanic Professional';. It's the best all-in-one cleanup tool I've found and I use it on every one of my machines. It does everything including removing malware, cleaning your registry, removing invalid Windows shorcuts, deleting junk files, removing unneeded startup programs, optimizing your Internet connection, and defragging your hard drive in one shot!
Before you remove ANYTHING, search the name in Google. You will find that many of the names you don't recognize are necessary parts of your operating system, anti-virus or some other program you are about to mess up.
If it is something you should keep but don't want to start automatically, the CCleaner program already mentioned has a function that will let you remove items from your startup listing so that it will not start automatically when Windows does.
download and run ';spybot search and destroy'; - select advanced mode and tools %26gt; Startup.

Startup Delayer v2.3.125
http://www.r2.com.au/software.php?page=2…
When Windows loads it's Startup file, it attempts to load every program in there at the same time. Therefore if you have quite a lot of programs starting when Windows starts, each program will try and grab CPU time so that it can load
Startup Delayer allows you to specify which programs to start first and which ones to delay. You can set a custom delay for each one, even drag the visual display graph which shows you exactly how your programs are starting and allows you to easily modify the order or adjust delay times. (1 second to 100 minutes)

To find drivers:
Google the manufacturer's name and go to the manufacturer's site for you computer/motherboard; video card; sound card; network card; printer; scanner; mouse; web cam; etc. Each site will have a support section to find the latest drivers and download them. You will need to know the make and model number. If you do not know the make and model number run Belarc Advisor and look in Windows Device Manager.
