I want to clear the hard drive,or better yet I want the computer when I first bought it. Get a fresh start on the computer!!!How do I clear everything on my computer ?
well most computers come with a setup disk that will do it for you, if you dont have one; most computers with xp/2000 come with one built in, usually accessed via F10 on your keyboard during startup, and it will allow you to troubleshoot or restore your windows partition. (how you do this depends on your manufacturer (ie: Dell, HP, Acer, IBM, Etc.) and your windows edition [95, 98, ME, 2000, XP, Vista and they're variants) So if you could elaborate on your setup, I would be happy to assist you.How do I clear everything on my computer ?
You could reformat it. But that would completely wipe out the hard drive and remove your operating system. Unless your computer came with vista already installed on it. But if you have some other form of windows then you will just need your reinstallation cd and you should be fine.
Unless you want to start using linux.
you can reformat your hard drive and then add back in the original operating system from the disks that came with your pc. caution this is not for the feint of heart.
from the DOS prompt type
format C: /s
it will ask are you sure? y/n
don't forget to back-up info that you want to save as everything will be lost
I've done that before...to be on the safe side...take it to a computer shop....(geek squad...circuit city)....and tell them that you want the motherboard cleaned on your computer.....it will be just like new again.
The best way to do that is to format, then start from scratch.
